Univea Terms of Use

Last updated: August 1, 2026

1. Service operator

Univea is run personally by Matteo Firinaiu, with no registered company behind it.

The operator can be reached at matteo@mitik.ai or through the Feedback page on the site.

matteo@mitik.ai is also the electronic point of contact for users and for competent authorities. Communications may be sent in Italian or English.

2. What Univea is

Univea is a free online service that lets students browse and publish reviews of university courses.

Reviews reflect users' personal experiences and opinions. Univea is not a university, does not represent the universities listed on the site, and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by them, unless expressly stated otherwise.

Information about universities, degree programs, courses, syllabi, teachers, credits, or academic structure may change over time and may contain errors or outdated information. For official information, consult the relevant university's own site and documents directly.

The service is currently free. Any future paid features will be governed by specific terms, which will be communicated and must be separately accepted before any charge is made.

3. Acceptance of these Terms

Simply browsing Univea's public pages does not require creating an account.

To verify an account, publish a review, or use features reserved for registered users, you must expressly accept these Terms of Use and confirm you have read the Privacy Policy.

Acceptance happens through the relevant control shown during registration or before using reserved features. By creating or using an account, you enter into an open-ended agreement with Univea's operator under the terms set out in this document.

Anyone who does not accept these Terms cannot create an account or publish reviews.

4. Requirements to use the service

Univea is reserved for users who are at least 18 years old.

Publishing reviews also requires verifying a university email address recognized by the system. Holding such an address is used solely as an indicator of belonging to the university community, and is not a reliable check of age, personal identity, current enrollment in a given program, or actual participation in a specific course.

By using reserved features, you represent that you are an adult and have the legal capacity needed to accept these Terms.

If Univea becomes aware that the service is being used by a minor, it may suspend the account and delete the related data, except as needed to handle the report, protect the people involved, or comply with legal obligations.

5. Accounts and email verification

Each account is personal and must only be used by the holder of the verified email address.

You must not share verification codes, session tokens, or other access credentials with third parties. You may not use another person's email address, create accounts under misleading identities, circumvent the service's technical limits, or use multiple accounts to manipulate reviews or abuse-prevention systems.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your session, unless you show the account was used without authorization for reasons not attributable to your own conduct.

If you suspect unauthorized access, loss of control over your email address, or unauthorized use of your account, notify Univea promptly at matteo@mitik.ai.

Univea may require a new email verification when reasonably necessary to protect the account, handle a user request, or prevent abuse.

6. Review requirements

Reviews must describe a real, personal, relevant experience of the university course being reviewed.

You must give your assessment in good faith, distinguishing facts from personal opinions where possible. Criticism, including negative criticism, is allowed when it concerns relevant aspects of the course and is expressed in a civil, proportionate, and respectful way.

You remain responsible for the content you publish and, at the moment of submission, represent that the review reflects your own experience, was not published in exchange for payment or at a third party's misleading request, and does not infringe others' rights.

Univea may apply technical limits on the number of reviews you can publish, their length, and how they can be edited, provided such limits are clearly shown in the service's interface.

7. Prohibited content

You may not publish false or invented reviews, or reviews about courses you did not actually take.

Insults, threats, harassment, discriminatory statements, incitement to hatred, personal humiliation, and content primarily aimed at attacking the dignity or reputation of students, teachers, researchers, university staff, or other people are prohibited.

You may not present as established fact accusations of crimes, corruption, harassment, discrimination, fraud, or other seriously unlawful conduct. Such matters must be reported to the competent authorities or university bodies, not used as the content of a public review.

You may not publish private addresses, phone numbers, personal email addresses, documents, credentials, private images, or other information that would let someone contact, locate, or identify a person beyond what is strictly necessary to describe the course.

You may not include data about a third party's health, disability, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions, sexual orientation, sex life, or other particularly sensitive information.

Also prohibited: content that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights, advertising, spam, harmful links, malware, phishing attempts, content generated or posted automatically to manipulate the service, and instructions aimed at circumventing its security systems.

Naming a teacher or another person does not automatically make content unlawful, but any reference to a specific person must be relevant, proportionate, and limited to what is needed to describe the teaching experience.

8. Ownership and license over reviews

You retain any intellectual property rights you hold over the text of your own review.

By publishing a review, you grant Univea a free, non-exclusive license, valid in the territories where the service is accessible, limited to what is needed to store, reproduce, format, display, and make the review available through the site and its technical infrastructure.

This license lets Univea make purely technical changes, such as adapting format, layout, encoding, and display across devices. Univea may not attribute to you meanings substantially different from what you actually expressed in the review.

The license lasts as long as the review stays published. When the review is deleted, the license ends, subject to temporary residual copies in backups and to what must be retained for legal obligations, dispute handling, or security, as described in the Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the right to publish the content and that doing so does not infringe any third party's rights.

9. Content moderation

Reviews are normally published without prior review.

Univea may subsequently review a review following a report, manual checks, evident anomalies, or when there is reasonable ground to believe the content is unlawful or violates these Terms.

Moderation is currently done manually. Univea does not use automated systems to independently make final decisions about removing reviews or suspending accounts. Any automated tools used in the future to detect spam or anomalies will be described in an updated version of these Terms.

Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, Univea may ask the author to edit the content, temporarily limit its visibility, remove it, block further publication, suspend certain features, or suspend or close the account.

Moderation decisions are made diligently, objectively, and proportionately, taking into account the severity of the violation, its context, the possibility of repetition, the rights of the people involved, and the user's freedom of expression.

Where a valid electronic contact is available, Univea tells the affected user about the decision and its reasons, identifying the content involved, the measure applied, its duration if any, the rule that was violated, and how to request a review of the decision.

This communication may be withheld or limited where required by law or an authority's order, where it could compromise an investigation, the security of the service, or a person's safety, or where the content is misleading commercial spam distributed in bulk.

10. Reporting unlawful content

Anyone who believes a review contains unlawful information can send a report to matteo@mitik.ai or through the Feedback page.

The report must identify the exact page address or another element that precisely identifies the review, explain in sufficient detail why the content would be unlawful, give the reporter's name and a valid email address, and include a statement that, in good faith, the information and claims provided are accurate and complete.

Where the law allows a report to be made without identification, the reporter's name will not be required.

Generic reports, ones that don't identify the review in question, or ones that aren't sufficiently substantiated may not let Univea assess whether the content is actually unlawful.

Where an electronic contact is provided, Univea confirms receipt of the report and later communicates the decision made and how to contest it. Reports are reviewed promptly, diligently, and in a non-arbitrary, objective way.

The reporter's identity is not disclosed to the review's author, except where strictly necessary to explain the decision, required by law, or ordered by a competent authority.

Deliberately false or abusive reports, or ones used to intimidate other users, may lead to limits on use of the reporting channels, without affecting the right to report content believed in good faith to be unlawful.

11. Requesting a review of a decision

The author of a removed or restricted review can ask for the decision to be reviewed by writing to matteo@mitik.ai or using the Feedback page.

The request must identify the decision being contested and explain why the content should be restored, or why the measure applied was wrong or disproportionate.

Someone who submitted a report can also ask for a review of a decision not to act, providing further supporting details.

Requests are reviewed manually, free of charge, and without discrimination. Univea communicates its reasoned outcome to the contact provided. You retain the right to approach the competent authorities or courts under applicable law in any case.

12. Account suspension and closure

Univea may temporarily suspend or close an account when the user seriously or repeatedly violates these Terms, publishes manifestly unlawful content, uses multiple accounts to bypass restrictions, attempts to compromise the service, or puts other users at risk.

Except in urgent or particularly serious cases, a warning is sent before final closure, offering the chance to stop the conduct at issue or provide clarification.

An immediate measure may be taken where necessary to remove manifestly unlawful content, protect a person from concrete danger, prevent a cyberattack, comply with an authority's order, or avoid serious harm to the service or to others.

Where possible, the communication of a suspension or closure states its duration, the reasons for the decision, and how to request a review of it.

Closing an account does not prevent Univea from temporarily keeping the information strictly necessary to document abuse, handle disputes, meet legal obligations, or prevent the immediate repetition of seriously unlawful conduct, within the limits described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Voluntary account deletion

You can stop using Univea and request deletion of your account at any time by writing to matteo@mitik.ai.

When an account is deleted, its associated reviews are deleted too, unless you expressly choose to keep them after they are permanently anonymized.

After deletion, active sessions are revoked and you lose the ability to edit or recover reviews that were deleted or made anonymous. The technical process and timing are described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Availability and changes to the service

Univea is run as a personal project and may change over time.

The operator tries to keep the service available and secure, but does not guarantee it will always be accessible, error-free, or compatible with every device. Interruptions may occur due to maintenance, updates, failures, cyberattacks, issues with infrastructure providers, or events reasonably beyond control.

Features, interface, available universities, verification criteria, and how reviews are structured may change for technical, legal, or security reasons, or to improve the service.

If Univea must shut down, or an essential feature must be removed, registered users will be given reasonable notice where technically and legally possible.

15. Accuracy of reviews and no advice

Univea does not systematically verify the truth of every statement in a review, and does not guarantee that published opinions are accurate, complete, unbiased, or representative of students' overall experience.

Reviews are not academic, professional, legal, or administrative advice, and should not be treated as the sole basis for choosing a university, course, teacher, study plan, or exam.

Users should critically evaluate reviews and verify relevant information through official sources.

16. Liability

Each user is responsible for the content they publish and for the consequences of violating these Terms or third parties' rights.

To the extent permitted by law, Univea is not liable for opinions users express on their own, for decisions made based on reviews, for inaccuracies in unofficial information, or for temporary unavailability of the service.

Univea cannot, however, exclude or limit its liability where the law prohibits doing so, including cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence, and other liability that cannot be waived under laws protecting users and consumers.

Nothing in these Terms limits any right you cannot waive under applicable law.

17. Ownership of the service

The Univea name, its original design, code, site structure, editorial text, and other elements created directly for the service belong to the operator or are used under the relevant permissions.

Using the service does not transfer to you any ownership right over those elements.

You may not systematically copy the database, republish a substantial part of its content, use the site to build a competing service through automated extraction, or attempt to access non-public parts of the infrastructure, except as allowed by mandatory law.

The names, trademarks, and logos of universities and other parties mentioned belong to their respective owners and are used solely for identification and informational purposes. Their presence does not imply affiliation or endorsement.

18. Personal data protection

The processing of personal data needed to verify accounts, manage sessions, publish reviews, prevent abuse, and respond to requests is described in Univea's Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy is a separate document from these Terms, and accepting this contract does not turn it into a basis for consent.

19. Changes to these Terms

Univea may amend these Terms when necessary to comply with new legal requirements, protect the service's security, introduce or change features, clarify existing rules, or fix problems found during use.

Changes are not applied retroactively and cannot remove rights you have already acquired where the law prohibits that.

The updated version is published on the site with its new update date. Significant changes are also communicated to registered users by email or through a clearly visible notice in the service before they take effect, unless immediate application is required by law or needed to address an urgent security risk.

Where a change substantially alters the relationship with a user, Univea may require fresh express acceptance. Anyone who does not accept can stop using the service and delete their account before the new terms take effect.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Italian law, without prejudice to any mandatory provisions of the law of the country where a consumer user habitually resides.

For users acting as consumers, the courts of the consumer's place of residence or domicile have jurisdiction in the cases provided for by applicable law.

Before starting court proceedings, the user and Univea are invited, without this being an obligation or a limit on the right to sue, to try to reach an amicable solution by writing to matteo@mitik.ai.

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found void, ineffective, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

Failing to apply a provision on a given occasion does not amount to waiving the right to apply it later.

22. Languages

These Terms may be made available in Italian and English. Both versions are drafted to express the same terms.

Any translation differences should be interpreted in the way most consistent with the overall meaning of these Terms, and cannot limit any right you cannot waive under applicable law.
